The Way To Understand
THE NEED
Our purpose is to try to help you, to personally understand God's Word, the Bible. An essential part of starting to understand the Bible for yourself is to become familiar with it by reading it. Many people need their motivation to read the Bible reinforced. Otherwise, they read a few chapters, and then get distracted.
Knowing what the Bible is about, and what to look for in it, helps you to be motivated to keep reading it. In order to know these things, you need to do a little studying first. The Bible studies that we make available to you through this site are a valuable way to learn about the Bible, and to give you the knowledge about it to want to keep reading it and start to understand it for yourself.
All of the study material that we offer is free. There are no fees or charges. We will never ask you for donations.
BIBLE READING PLANNER
After you have begun learning about the Bible from the studies you will be better prepared to start learning about the Bible by reading it. With the seventeenth study, we will send a Bible Reading Planner. It's a reading check list with reading for a year listed. For each day you are given a chapter of the Bible to read. Each chapter is selected to be about a subject that is important for someone who is not very familiar with the Bible, to study about first. We also give you a few comments about each chapter so that you will know what to look for in it.
When you have completed reading the chapters in the list, you will have read about one third of the Bible. Once you have accomplished that, there are many ways that you can continue your progress in understandng the Bible for yourself. One would be to start on another Bible reading plan that covers the whole Bible, which we can send you. Another way would be to review the seventeen studies and then read the same set of chapters according to the Bible Reading Planner, that you have already read once. That would reinforce what you have already learned and give you more confidence. Or there are more advanced Bible studies that you can take.
But that's a decision to make later. If the approach we have described above sounds good to you, please click on the Study Request button on the home screen and give us the information we'll need to start sending you the studies. After you have submitted the information, you will see an acknowledgement that we have received it. We will then send you the studies as promptly as possible.
STUDY QUESTIONS
Along with the studies, we provide questions to help you get more out of the studies. Most people, as they answer the questions, go back and look at the study to make sure about the answer they want to give. That second look, along with writing or typing the answers helps you to remember the important points of the study. The questions are about the points that you need to understand in order to get the most out of your reading of the Bible.
Once we get your study request, we will (Lord willing) either email or mail you studies and the questions for them. You can either type the answers in on a reply to our email or write them on the printed question sheet we mail you, and mail the sheet back. Then when we receive your answers, or in a reasonable time if you don't send any, we will send you more studies and questions.
So, sending in the answers is optional. If you do, we will look them over, perhaps make some comments, and return them to you. If we don't hear from you at all, after sending a number of studies, we'll check with you to make sure you want us to keep sending them.
You may have some questions about all this. If you do, please email us at Biblereaders500@gmail.com, or write: Understand The Bible, 501 Spruce St., Verona, PA 15147.
